English language library
I finally had the opportunity to search out, find and get the skinny on our English language library. It is now located at EL ENCINO. To get there, take a PUEBLO DE ROCHA bus from anywhere in downtown Gto. You'll get to ride up Tepetapa and past the panteon after which you will go down a pretty steep hill. At the bus stop at the bottom of the hill, you'll be facing an area that looks like a school complex on the right. The sign over the entrance says EL ENCINO. You'll see a couple of turnstiles to enter and exit, and a ticket window that says ENTRANCE 3 PESOS. Just say you are going to the library (biblioteca) and you are in free. Walk straight back to a white building bearing a sign that says BIBLIOTECA LUCIO MARMOLEJO. Enter there and go all the way back on the right side and lo and behold you will find "our" library.
If you are a bit stout, have poor eyesight or are panicked by small places, this is not a place you will like. However, there are many, many books....all in English: a good selection of mysteries, romance, biographies, etc, more or less organized with handwritten signs pointing the way. There are boxes of books and piles of books and books in disarray as well, which would indicate that if some kind soul with a bit of library experience and a yen to organize would donate a couple hours a week, the library could be an even more valuable asset to readers.
A woman who was holding down the fort in another part of the library said that there wasn't a lot of traffic in and out, though an American lady came in while I was there, bringing some books back and taking some books out. She loves the place. A volunteer might toss some of the old and torn books or possibly those of limited interest to make a liitle more room for perusing. Some shelves could be moved to take advantage of the small amout of available light, etc.
As has been noted by others in the forum, you may take all the books you wish, bring them back after reading them if you want, and donate books. Just amble in. Noone will be concerned, not even a librarian to hush loud talkers. You are on your own.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday thru Friday during school vacations. On August 22nd, the kids go back to school and the library will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

RE: English language library
Good suggestions. One more: return the books you borrow or donate comparable ones.
