A warm hello from the English Language Library Committee, after nearly 18 months since Covid descended upon us. Like all of us, we’ve been surviving, reading a lot, and quite busy these last months working with the University of Guanajuato Central Library to ensure a more stable, accommodating, and engaged future for our collection and membership. While the University's Central Library is open now, we cannot open yet because of a project taking place in the rooms adjacent to ours hence blocking the entrance to our room.

However, our cherished English Language collection will become more accessible on the mezzanine level of the Central Library, with all ELL books and materials cataloged into the UG collection, if current negotiations work out. This will mean that our books will not only be maintained and checked out by the University Library’s professional staff, but accessible to the entire university community. ELL membership will be open to the entire Guanajuato community, and according to the new agreement being worked out, ELL patrons will have browsing privileges to the University’s Central Library collections.

We ask for your patience for a few more months as we finalize these major changes to the English Language Library. In the meantime please take advantage of our book exchange shelves upstairs in Casa Cuatro on San Jose in Centro and at the Casa de la Presa Concept House (La Victoriana). And let us know if there are any outreach programs you want to help us host during the interim, to keep us all connected.
