RE: Covid 19 situation now?
I misunderstood “cumulative count”, reading it as “cumulative for the week.” So, Robert, I guess that means cumulative since the beginning. Thus, you have had way less than we in WA state (what a relief) but are now having an uptick in deaths per day. Thanks for that last post so that I now have a better sense. I wonder if the deaths there are similar to WA, mostly older or compromised patients.

@wmeleney: The statistics issued by the state of Washington are probably much more reliable than those issued by the state of Guanajuato.

Unfounded and invalid statistics stating the unfounded and invalidity of other unfounded and invalid statistics ...
(That's just my own unfounded and invalid opinion.) |

RE: Covid 19 situation now?
Wow. What a discussion. The message is "real clear". I think you have to make up your own mind, William. Keep your family's anxiety level as low as you can. This election situation will pass. Covid will, too, in about one more year.
See you in GTO. James |

Quote:Thus, you have had way less than we in WA state (what a relief) but are now having an uptick in deaths per day. Yes, there has been an uptick. I would certainly hope that Guanajuato CITY has fewer deaths than Washington State. Guanajuato City has a population of 160,000, Washington State has a population of 7.6 million. A better comparison would be against Kitsap County, WA, which has a population of 271,000, so a bit less that twice GTO's population. Kitsap Co. has only 12 deaths. One more comparison: Yakima County, which I understand is a hot spot, has a population of 243,000, and 256 deaths. |

RE: Covid 19 situation now?
This Reuters report doesn't address the situation in Guanajuato specifically, but it does indicate that the number of Covid deaths in Mexico is likely at least double the number reported by the government.
"In its latest nationwide study about excess mortality rates, a globally recognized means of determining the impact of a pandemic, Mexico’s [health] ministry said 122,765 more people had died than expected between mid-March and Aug. 1. Mexico’s reported coronavirus deaths at the start of August stood at just over 47,000...." |
