How to register for the Covid Vaccine in Mexico - Now Open for 60+ year olds
Vaccine registration is now open for people 60 and over. I registered earlier today (February 3). The link below has some background and instructions on getting registered. Good info.
Thank you. What's your secret? We tried 30+ times to access. Frequently no connection, occasionally a screen asking for CURP, after entry got several different messages indicating action ongoing, but then always nada. Just servers overwhelmed? |

"Just servers overwhelmed?"
Yes, I think so. I added a few tips to the original post regarding making sure the CURP is right, etc but basically the servers are overwhelmed. I registered early in the morning (before 5am) yesterday. |

It took some persistence on my part, but I was able to register during the evening of February 4.

If we do not have a CURP number then there is no way to register? That sets me back a ways.
Please confirm. I do have my tourist immigration form. James |

The national registration site first requires entry of your CURP, similar to SS#, to begin the appointment process.
18 characters, appears on longer term visas, health care card etc. There may be a workaround, once the frenzy subsides. Most everything here does. |

"If we do not have a CURP number then there is no way to register?"
Correct, James Doran, at least for now. I believe the government once promised free vaccines for everybody, but at least for the moment you need a CURP. That situation may change, so keep an eye on the news and forums such as this one. |

The Federal government recently authorized the purchase of Covid vaccines directly by state governments and private companies. This may take time but could open vaccination options other than the large scale Federal effort.
The Governor of Guanajuato was quoted in local press saying he intends to pursue buying doses for our state. We may also then see private hospitals, clinics and physicians making shots available for a fee. |

There is no way to use the website today to register without a CURP but the government is making noises about other arrangements for people without a CURP to get vaccinated.
There is nothing specific yet, but there are 'intentions.' They do not mention tourist visas specifically but there are a couple of news stories today about getting vaccines to people without CURPs: SMA News and Coronavirus Update February 7, 2021 https://www.smafaq.com/discussion/4344/s...ary-7-2021 |
