Immigration Assistance
If you are looking for assistance with immigration, car registration, driver licence etc. Sonia Diaz in San Miguel is fluent in English, very helpful and charges a very fair price. Her website is www.soniadiaz.mx

We can also recommend Sony Diaz from our recent experience. And her price is very reasonable; one person we contacted wanted over 5000 pesos more per person than she charges, or over four times as much!

RE: Immigration Assistance
Or learn enough Spanish to do-it-yourself. There are half a dozen good language schools in Guanajuato, and the paperwork for immigration and so on really isn't very difficult.

RE: Immigration Assistance
Really? When I joined this GTO forum I thought it was a place to pass on helpful information to each other. All I see lately is a lot of critics. What does it matter who wants or needs help with things?

RE: Immigration Assistance
We used a woman named Lillia who was extremely helpful and reasonable for immigration purposes. She does not speak very much english but knows the office, the officers and the procedures very well. Although I had initially obtained my RT in La Paz without an expediter, I am glad to have had Lillia while renewing for three years in SMA. I also had to do a change of address and had to obtain two letters for travel while the card was being processed. She was very helpful with all of these.
I hear nothing but good things about Sonia Diaz and she is clearly very busy, but there are also a few others who are doing this job, at least at the INM. Learning spanish is really important and I agree that there are good schools here in guanajuato, but for an oldie like me, it is hard and sometimes I appreciate a little help when it comes to dealing with bureaucratic offices. |

RE: Immigration Assistance
No criticism was intended, MarionP. I simply think that "helpful information" can include the fact that the immigration and other procedures are not all that complicated. With minimal Spanish twenty-two years ago, I managed everything all by myself, and the procedures are even easier now. I know many newcomers who have done the same. If people feel they need help, that's fine, too. But I think most should be aware that they probably don't need help and can save their money.

RE: Immigration Assistance
Since you have to start your Resident Visa process in your home country ..... you should definitely start at your local Mexican Consulate. Then if you feel you lack information and have no Spanish skills ..... look for a facilitator here. Most Immigration offices are helpful and probably have an English speaker

RE: Immigration Assistance
Our Spanish skills are just fine. As my subject title stated my comment was for "Immigration Assistance". After living all over the world we strongly believe in employing local people to assist with visas etc. It saves us a lot of time and we are happy to pay for the service. I was simply passing on a persons name that was helpful to us. My topic had nothing to do with Spanish schools, speaking Spanish, etc.
Want to do it yourself? Kudos to you but that was not my topic. |
