RE: Eiffel and Mercado Hidalgo?
I feel kind of silly for passing on to customers as fact the Eiffel - Mercado Hidalgo myth. Glad I know now. How did it get started?

RE: Eiffel and Mercado Hidalgo?
Don't feel silly, Mykul. I bet eight out of ten native guanajuatenses believe the myth, which, though apparently false, is not really far-fetched. As earlier posts have noted, Eiffel designed two other buildings in Mexico and several in South America.
As for how it got started, who knows? I think it's very old. I first heard it from my Spanish teacher, twenty years ago, and she had no doubt it was true. I still see her occasionally, but I wouldn't even think of trying to enlighten her. It would be like telling a kid there's no Santa Claus. Don |

RE: Eiffel and Mercado Hidalgo?
Perhaps going forward we can claim "inspired" by Eiffel. We hear that term connected to Frank Lloyd Wright for almost every older house in Scottsdale, Arizona where his originals number maybe 10 total.
