Library
Can anyone tell me if there is a public library near el centro in GTO? I was told the University library requires enrollment.

RE: Library
Mike,
If you're looking for an English-language library, there is one on the outskirts. I haven't been there myself, but a few months ago I copied the following directions from somewhere: "The English Library is open to all, no library cards, no card catalog. Come and take home what you want, return and donate books whenever the spirit moves you. The Library occupies a room in the Guanajuato library, which is part of the Casa de la Cultura in Encino (along the street from Comercial Mexicana to the Plaza de Toros, starting out as Tepetapa but assuming a variety of different names along the way). Hours 9-4 Mon-Fri. A sign indicates that a 3-peso admissions fee is required, but just say you're going to the Biblioteca and the welcome will be warm. Directions: Take any Marfil bus in front of the Del Sol department store, across (more or less) from Mercado Hidalgo. The bus stops directly in front of the Encino center at the basketball court which is part of it. (A few stops past the Momias Museum)." Don |

RE: Library
Mike,
More details, please. Is the library in La Presa English-language or Spanish-language? And where exactly is it? Don |

RE: Library
Heading from Embajadoras towards La Presa you go past the tunnel, past Oxxo, and it is on the right directly next to a park. It is public, nice, a bit small. It is mostly Spanish, but I noticed English and French books intermingled.
