update on visa process at INM
[size=x-small]copied from the excellent website michoacan net (a yahoo group, I think):
3a Re: INM Limbo Wed Jan 23, 2013 5:53 pm (PST) . -------------------- The document with your Numero Unico de Tramite has three numbers on it. One is the PIECE (pieza) number. The second is your NUT number. The third is a CONTRASENA (password) number, that is usually 5 digits. To see the status of your immigration forms, you go to the web address shown on your document, then using the PIECE number and the CONTRASENA number, (the NUT number will pop up - just click on it), you will see a dated table of tramites (steps) taken by INM. When you see that the most current tramite says "presentarse ............ .", they are ready to see you for the next step, in your (and our) case, to receive your actual card. In some cases, there are two steps for the same date. In this case, one of the steps is asking you to do something online, usually to verify some information that they have for you. Hope this helps save some trips to INM In the meantime, we have completed all our steps and are awaiting our permanent card. We hear that this may take some time. The rumor we heard is that there is a problem with the card laminating company! Whether that rumor is true, and if true, whether it is because of broken equipment or the laminating company holding up INM for more money, we don't know. Since every INM office in Mexico has a laminating machine that is now sitting idle because of the centralization of INM to Mexico City (Do I hear power grab?), it's probably that the owner of the laminating company is a great buddy of the head of Aduana, (mortal enemy of INM) and therefore will make INM's life as miserable as possible for as long as possible! That is MY rumor, and you can pass it along, since it is as good as the next rumor! -- Logan Smith |
