Recommendations for a dentist?
I need a dentist who can do major refilling of a crumbling molar or do a crown. Any suggestions will be appreciated. An address and/or phone number also, please. Thank you.

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Many of us here go to Dentist Daniel Garcia Nieto (473-734-0004) up near the Pipila monument. I have found him very professional and he speaks some English.

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Dr Ram?n Vazquez Bernal does good work at reasonable rates - basically charges by the hour/time it takes to do a procedure, as opposed to a flat rate per procedure. While he doesn't speak English, his advice and recommendations are sound, especially in situations that are not clear-cut.

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
I can also recommend Dr. Garcia Nieto.
He's done xrays, cleaning, floridation, and filled a couple of cavities for me, painlessly. I'll be seeing him again in February, to deal with a crown that I've deliberately postponed for three years. He quoted a price of 3,000 pesos for getting this done. UNLESS it is necessary to also do a root canal, which will double the price. |

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
I get my work done in Tonala near Guadalajara if money is an issue I have gotten 2 root canals and crowns over the years about 2000 pesos for the crown and root canal and I'm totally satisfied if anyone is interested I'll get you the name of the dentist might involve an overnight but still a substantial savings

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Thanks for all the recommendations! Does anybody have an idea of what any of the dentists charge for a standard cleaning and check-up?

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Dr. Garcia Nieto did my root canal and cleaning....very professional and gentle. The dentist who actually does the root canal comes in to do just that....the root canal....and Dr. Garcia Nieto installs the base, takes the impression and fits the crown. Excellent work. :DThanks to those of you who chimed in and for those of you looking for a good dentist, I recommend him.:D

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Based on the recommendations here, I've made an appointment with Dr. Nieto, but phone-Spanish is still hard for me and I wasn't able to understand how to get to the office. Can anybody explain how to get there from Pipila (on foot)?
Also, I realized after I hung up that I didn't specify Dr. Nieto. Is there more than one dentist in the office, or can I safely assume that my appointment will be with him? Thanks! |

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
From P?pila, with your back toward the view over Guanajuato, head left. Follow the Panor?mica for five or ten minutes until you come to the first right turn. Follow that road for another couple of minutes until you see the dental office on your right. The sign says Logani, which is the name of the clinic. You'll see Daniel Garc?a Nieto's name and others in the fine print.
No, it's not safe to assume that your appointment will be with him. He has assistants or hygienists who sometimes handle cleanings and initial visits, though I'm sure he'd be summoned if needed. I think he's the only dentist there, but he shares the clinic with an orthodontist and perhaps other dental professionals. By the way, it's not correct to call him "Dr. Nieto." Like most Mexicans, he uses two last names; and when only one of the two is used, it's generally the first one. He is thus either "Dr. Garc?a" or, more formally, "Dr. Garc?a Nieto." Don |
