Yes, Dr. Gerardo Mora (the son who is a general/internist) in the Centro Medico de la Presa, call (473)102-3100 to see when he's there. His brother and father are surgeons/specialists.

Dr. Carrasco at Centro Medical Presa was treated my broken foot bone and helped heal respitory and other issues for friends. Speaks perfect English and his wife is an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist who offices in the same place. $600MXN for the visit and $700 for the Xray.
The appointment lasted 1hr and had made the appointment the day before.

Also a friend recommends the “youngest” doctor of the 3 attending at the Clinic in Plaza de Paz, as he speaks English. That clinic has consultation, labs, radiation, surgery and is less expensive. Imagine!

Best wishes and speedy recoveries!

Strongly second Dr Gerardo Mora Campos @ Clinica Medica de la Presa.
Great, very patient and conscientious doctor with excellent English. Thorough and explains all.
Use the full name as he has two family that practice there as well. His hours seem to be 10am ish to 5pm.

Hey davoli001,

I'm glad you and others had a good experience with Dr. Carrasco. He's an orthopedist surgeon, and when I fell and broke my kneecap he was on call at the CMP and did the surgery. According to an ortho from Leon, he repaired it in a way that made it very difficult to remove the wires and nails, made it harder and took longer to heal, and left some damage which still causes me pain at times. I would never see him again as an orthopedist or have surgery with him.

Yes, I definitely recommend him if you need an orthopedist. His name is Dr. Ramon Centeno Lopez, 477-711-7551 in Leon. There are also these two numbers, not sure which is best - 477 212 2436 and 477 161 1373. I am lucky that I can see him now as he comes once a week as a specialist for UGTO employees in our clinic. I think he also sees patients in Silao once a week, but I don't have the number there.

He is also in the Hospital General in Guanajuato (behind the bus station), I think on Sundays, but long lines there. A friend had a hip replacement with him there last November and is pleased.

Many thanks Barbara. I’d also appreciate your info on the doctor in charge of the Anatomy Donation program at the University of Guanajuato. I’d like to contact him and begin making arrangements. I have this with the University of Minnesota Medical School if I die in the USA. But here in Mexico, I want to be recycled and used for educational purposes.

Here's the link with the email address and phone number for the doctor who runs this program at the UG medical school in Leon.
He came here twice last year to bring the forms and IDs, but last time there were only 2 people.

If know others who are interested, he might come here again. I was surprised at the lack of interest in Guanajuato; the first time he came here he was coming from San Miguel and there were 12 donors there!

RE: Looking for doctor recommendations
If your ailment will require blood tests or various samples analyzed, you can save a double trip to the doctor (assuming s/he doesn't have a lab onsite) by stopping here first. Very reasonably priced lab. No English though. I always get tests run first for the area I have concern with after googling my symptoms and take the lab results to the doctor. This place will run tests for you without doctor's orders, which I consider a major convenience. Others could possibly not. Now this is not a direct answer to your question and may not fit your exact predicament but perhaps it will serve someone else in the future who comes searching here. Good luck and get well!
