lesser known novel by a favorite author?
I rose to the challenge and five minutes before the deadline submitted my nominee. You can read a dozen opinions resulting from this intriguing question.
A footnote: Afterward I realized my top lesser known would be When She Was Good by Philip Roth. The New York Times critic of the day panned the book, saying as an urban Jew Roth wasn't "qualified" to write a Madame-Bovary type novel set in small town America. The young writer, crushed, continued down the different path he is known for, most recently winning the prestigious Prince of Asturias prize in Spain. RE: lesser known novel by a favorite author?
Great link, thanks, Rochelle. I loved The Clan of the Cave Bear, so I'm sure I'd like the book you recommended by Golding, too. Another book to add to my list of books to borrow or buy!
