Lectures & Appearances - Local Author
Press Release ? Dallas News Friday, July 8, 2011
Author, speaker and consultant will be at Dallas Public Library DALLAS ? Dr. Jacqueline Zaleski Mackenzie, author of Empowering Spanish Speakers: Answers for Educators, Businesspeople, or Friends of Mexicans will present a free program Thursday, July 14 at the Dallas Central Library. The program and book signing will be at noon in the O?Hara Room. Mackenzie?s program, "Speak with your heart" is her reply to teachers of Spanish speakers who say, "What should I do? I don't speak a word of Spanish." Sales of her book will be used to build libraries in rural Mexico. Sacrificing the comforts of western civilization to live in rural Mexico, Mackenzie?s book is a guide to working with Spanish speaking persons from all walks of life. Her work combines scientific research, statistical analysis, and personal exploits in an easy-to-read textbook format. Born in Roswell, New Mexico to a first generation Polish-American father and Scottish mother, Mackenzie moved 22 times between first and third grade because of her father?s service in the Air Force. She now calls rural Central Mexico her home, because "when my parents were filled with too much grief to notice me, Mexican mothers made me feel loved. I can never repay them, but I keep trying."
