Version en espa?ol a continuaci?n

Dear Colleague - Dr. Jacqueline Zaleski Mackenzie,

This message is to inform you that your presentation has been accepted for inclusion in the conference program for CONAHEC?s 14th North American Higher Education conference. As mentioned in a previous email, we received an overwhelming response to our Call for Proposals which has meant that unfortunately the committee was given indications that we only have the space available to accept a limited number of submissions. Congratulations - yours is among the ones they chose to accept!
The conference will take place beginning Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 in the afternoon, with pre-conference workshops during the morning, until around lunch time on Friday, October 14th, 2011. At this point we are assembling the whole schedule, and upon completion of this task, we will communicate the specific time and location of your presentation. Our expectation is that attendees are planning to be in Puebla for the duration of the event. Please indicate at your earliest convenience if you have time constraints which preclude your participation at any point during the event, so we can attempt to accommodate your schedule in the program, or, if this proves impossible, so that we can offer the space to another presenter from the wait list.
At the bottom of this message is the information that we have in our system regarding your presentation.
Thanks very much for agreeing to participate in our upcoming conference. You and the other presenters whose proposals have been accepted will continue to receive notifications via email from us regarding your participation in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you in Puebla!

Apreciable Colega - Dr. Jacqueline Zaleski Mackenzie,

Best regards/Saludos cordiales,

Francisco Marmolejo

Presentation # 105 CONAHEC 14th North American Higher Education Conference ? Puebla 2011
Piercing the Veil of Social Class Via Education - Dr. Jacqueline Zaleski Mackenzie

The cultural mobility restrictions due to social class for students raised in subsistence farmer?s communities in Mexico are evident in multifaceted parameters. Breaking out of that lowest social class and into the position of a publicly acknowledged educated professional requires the cognitive abilities, a positive attitude, and the financial backing by someone from a higher social class. To be accepted as having attained a higher social class requires the relocation of the family residence and three generations of educated family members who have also attained financial stability. Nonprofit organizations, especially working as a team, have the ability to locate financial backing, experienced tutors, and psychological professionals capable of overcoming these seemingly impossible cultural hurdles that are in the pathway to a quality education for the lowest of this socioeconomic class of students.
