RE: Don Juane
Not too far if you're eatin' or drinkin' but way over the hill if you are a gunnin' ;-)

RE: Don Juane
Just for talkin’ , Eatin’ and drinkin’. I got no grudges against no one here.
It seems that most of the activity has moved to the facebook pages. Maybe I’ll get back in the swing of things on this good ol’ site. What part of town are you in? I’m in the Centro, above the Baratillo a bit. Jim Doran |

RE: Don Juane
I live very near where you do, maybe a 10 minute walk. Can meet you sometime. PM me. I am trying to get away from social media so I don't post too much any longer. I have found it sort of sours the magic image I have of Mexico and it's more fun just sitting in a park watching school kids or street dances or balloon vendors than going online most days. I am also getting out of GTO more and more for day-trips, week-trips, month-trips. It's a nice home base but it doesn't capture everything Mexico has to offer (nor can any city or lonely beach, actually), and as we age, the stairs seem to be a constant nemesis. Also as you mentioned, this offering is pretty dead. There's something about Facebook where it seems everyone is required to check at least half their brain at the gate before entering, and don't forget to grab a weapon. I tire of all the bickering online, I tire of the word "awesome" at the end of every "On the Road" post while wondering, is it all really that "awesome" or is it the fact that the US and Canada has nothing to offer but beer, football, the same 10 restaurants, 2 movie theaters and 4 big box stores and that's what makes every other share "awesome" on all these Mexico Facebook blogs. But I digress. Covid's turned the world upside down. I caught it with 2 vaxes down, a delta in the air (not the plane LOL) and the 3rd vax not yet out of the shoot. Near full recovery but about a 10-15% loss of taste and smell since, but hey, I needed to slow down eating anyway. All's good and considering the fate of so many locals and their families (RIP) and my stupid anti-vaxing friends and relatives back in good old Native-Texas-land, I came out smelling like a rose. Life never seems quite so important as when one comes close to losing it. And all else aside, thanks for the shout out and give me a buzz in a couple of weeks. Right now I am daily observing but mostly conducting auto repairs.
