Seguro Popular renewal

Hello to all...
I have a Temporary Residency card, expiring in Sept, 29, 2019, and have been a resident of Guanajuato City for 4 years. My Seguro Popular expired July 4, 2019, and I was told at the SP office next to the Hospital General on July 11, 2019, two days ago, that I need to get a letter of Naturalization at a government office in Leon. I can’t apply for my Permanent Residency card until August 29 (30 days before expiration). My question is, has anyone successfully renewed your Seguro Popular with a Temporary Residency card and if so, what was the process, cost etc??.....any advice will be appreciated...thanks in advance...

I had the same experience. Last week I tried to register for Seguro Popular with my temporary residence card at both the hospital and the health center near the mercado. Both times I was told I had to have a letter of naturalization from INM. The guy at the health center told me this was a recent change. To me this sounds like a permanent residency card would not work, either.

I can only relate a close friends recent experience. In mid June this year holding a Temporary Visa he enrolled at GTO SP hospital and was given three year coverage. He felt fortunate as the many rumors of limiting coverage to full citizens had quickly spurred him to action.
With your story those rumors may now be turning to fact.
The government cannot abandon the 1 million people it has currently granted extended legal residence.Some form of health protection must become available.
