Forest/Brush Fires Near Guanajuato

I'm in the process of moving down here. I'm staying at my place right now, fixing it up in the Pastita neighborhood. In the hills to the east I can see a brush fire near the top of a hill (see attached), probably at least 10 miles out of town, but still. Are these common in the area?

It has been about six months since any rain of consequence. Any careless cigarette or similar ignition will find fuel aplenty, especially the grassland and hillsides. Late in each dry season we watch fire lines move across our surrounding hills hoping the wind that day doesn’t push in our direction.
We wish for rain and stay vigilant.
