Mexico City hotel recommendations?
I will spend 2 days in Mexico City in a few weeks and need to book a hotel. Moderately priced, good location for seeing the sights, safe area, and ideally not too hard to get to the airport. Recommendations much appreciated. Thanks!

There is some bus that circles around the zocalo, about 4 blocks out if I remember correctly that will take you directly to the airport. Check with one of the armed guards that stands around the downtown area. Note also the subway goes to the airport.

Subway stop:
Terminal Aerea - airport - continue out past gate 1 and around curved white brick wall, walk underground to subway
Autobuses del Norte - bus station that serves GTO and area, located across the parking lot in front of the bus station
General Anaya - from this subway stop, then ask there and a bus very near stop will take you to central Coyoacan, then walk to Frida museum

We enjoyed Block Suite in the aroma district. Clean, reasonably priced. It's small, lobby is estentially a desk and elevator area. Breakfast included, laundry area, rooms are modern and nice. Look it up online. Very efficient and was economical.

The Majestic overlooking The Zocalo. Be sure to get a outside room overlooking the Zocalo. Lots of history in the area and always enjoy the top floor cafe/bar area.

Note: A relative visited the Frida Kahlo museum yesterday. She arrived at 8:30AM while the museum opens at 10AM. Already there were several hundred in line. She waited 4 1/2 hours to get in. Also a tour bus of Asian people broke in line, security was called and the tour bus patrons refused to move to the end of the line. Quite a ruckus ensued but the issue was not resolved because the entire group even when the guards arrived refused to move back to the end of the line.
