FM3 to FM2 ? new process straightforward
We are pleased to announce that the process for getting an FM2 was very straightforward. We had held our FM3 for one year only, and had previously gone through an immigration agent. This year we were encouraged to tackle it by ourselves as the process has been streamlined. We went to the San Miguel office. This is what we took:

*2 copies of application form which can be found on the web
http://setram.inami.gob.mx:8080/solicitu...ancia.html
and directions for how to fill it in here on the jaltembajalapeno.com website:
http://jaltembajalapeno.com/lang/en/fore...3-and-fm2/

*Infantil photos ? front & side, can be colour or b&w
* FM3
* Passport
* Bank satements for last 3 months
* Utility bill or proof of home ownership
* Formato Basico filled in
see link below:
http://jaltembajalapeno.com/lang/en/fore...to-basico/
*A covering letter

At our first visit we presented the above and there were 2 things that still needed doing: a few changes to our covering letter, and they gave us the form to pay at any bank before returning. (2,800 pesos each for the FM2, and 669 pesos each to be added to the Registro Nacional de Extranjeros.) Second visit we handed it all in complete with corrected letter and bank receipts. We were issued with a number that allowed us to check online the progress of our application.

Third visit ? one week later ? fingerprinting, documents signed, and the FM2 cards were issued!

RE: FM3 to FM2 ? new process straightforward
I did my FM3 renewal in Leon with much the same easy results. One item that caused an extra step was that the first photographer took my side view with left cheek to camera and that was not acceptable -- it must be the right cheek facing the camera.

Great and extremely useful information - thankyou.

Seeing as you have both used the INM offices in Leon and SMA I am guessing that I could not find the INM office in Guanajuato GTO, because there isn't one? Is this right?

Thanks,
Janelle
