Bus system
We are visiting here for a month. Couple of questions,if anyone can help. I've already read the 2 bus posts that I found, so I know there is no schedule.
1. What is the paper transfer or whatever for? I've offered it to drivers, and they look puzzled, yet people keep getting them.
2. How come the various busses on Alhondiga don't stop at every blue sign?
Thanks!
If you want to know where to find some vegetarian here, ask me!

RE: Bus system
AH YES! The local bus systems in Mexico. After riding them for 31 years my answer is i have no idea how it works.
Why do they not stop at certain stops? Who Knows!
Why does their signs show certain destination that the bus goes no where near? I do not know
The only answer I have is ask before boarding.
Still a most busy system that seldom requires long waits for a ride --------------------except when it does.

RE: Bus system
1. It's not a transfer but a receipt, and you're supposed to hang on to it till you reach your destination. Once in a great while--I've seen this only a couple of times in seventeen years of frequent riding--an inspector will board the bus to check that everyone has been issued a receipt.

1a. There are no transfers here. If you require two buses to reach your destination, you pay two fares.

2. Bus drivers generally won't pull over at a bus stop if no one appears to be waiting there. That's why people often indicate with a wave of the hand that they want the bus to stop for them.

RE: Bus system
Thanks for the answers, guys. I have found all that you say to be true. One time we were at the stop and tried to wave down the bus...twice!!!...and they didn't pull over. Of course it was at the end of the day, we were tired and hot, and all the other buses were the wrong ones. Of course.
But, it is good to have your help and to know about the non-transfers. Imagine their surprise if they went to NYC and got a little piece of paper, and it was a FREE TICKET on the next bus!
