Weekend on Leon'sPlaza
Booked a room at the Ramada Plaza Hotel this last Friday/Saturday nights which actually turned out to be a small suite with a living room, bedroom, large bath & a balcony overlooking the main Plaza from seven stories up. Lots of amenities including a 40 inch HD flat screen, WiFi, a safe etc. I was quoted $62.50 US per night but as the peso strengthen a bit this week it turned out to be almost $65 US per still a great bargain.
Great staff in all areas including front desk, maids, cafes, & bell staff. Had breakfast each AM in the Terrace room. Excellent Huevos rancheros, fresh juice, coffee, rolls, tortillas, & fruit for 125 pesos, than hot cakes, juice & coffee the second morning for 118 pesos. Also lunch on the outdoor plaza seating of Cesar Salad & Onion Soup with Lemonade for about 120 pesos. Had to check out the "Maria" upstairs restaurant for dinner the last night having some excellent Mole in the Oaxacan Tradition. All in all a great hotel! Mostly wandered the area enjoying the activities in & around the lovely plaza, with a side trip on Saturday to the leather market as I was under strict instructions to purchase two specific shoe styles for my absent wife to go with the several hundred pair she already owns! I also got two plain belts for myself. Over all while the plaza & the surrounding area are a true delight especially at night I found little of interest for me beyond that area. Little of the charm or lovely architecture we have here in GTO. Still a pleasant weekend. I had made a number of trips to Leon visiting the fore mentioned Leather market, the State Farie, the Arte Museum & the Zoo in past years but my first to El Central. |

RE: Weekend on Leon'sPlaza
Is the Poliforum open year-round? Or just during the Fair?
And here's what I consider one of the best deals around. If you go to a soccer game in León, you can park in the the garage in the Hotel and Plaza Stadium next door for 50 pesos. That's less than 1/5th of what the same thing would cost in Seattle or Vancouver. |

RE: Weekend on Leon'sPlaza
No pool at the Ramada as far as I know.
Yes we stayed at the Stadium Plaza Hotel last year but the rates were much higher this year so i thought I would give downtown a try. Gad I did as nice change. |
