RE: does amazon deliver to mexico?
I just got stuff from Amazon shipped to Comgateway and it has only taken 2 days once it had all arrived, you can get quotes for their shipping prices from their website before you commit and a few deals when you first sign up valid for 30days. It was cheaper then direct from Amazon which would have been over $250 for postage this way it was free postage to them and then $120ish here.
I have however been stung with 30% tax! It is arriving this afternoon so I'm hoping to get some of the tax back but they called my house owner yesterday to confirm the money so I've had to pay up. You can in theroy calculate it here (only 3 times), I thought is was going to be 16% but not sure what happened: http://www.dutycalculator.com/country-gu...to-Mexico/ |

RE: does amazon deliver to mexico?
Lisa,
When you say $250 and $120, are you talking dollars or pesos? As for the 30% tax, are you referring to customs duty? If so, it would be helpful to have an idea of what sort of stuff you ordered and of its value, as the customs duty varies with the type of merchandise. Don |

RE: does amazon deliver to mexico?
Yep USD.
I ordered a vitamix $550USD, then stuff including cereal, snack bars, 2 water bottles and 2 lunch boxes for $120USD. When you look at an item on amazon you can often click on the thing that says '3 new' and it will list the shops that sell it and which ones ship internationally. When looking at the vitamix there were a few who shipped to Mexico and it was going to be $250 (after you go through the whole process) I got a free quote from comgateway and it was $90 on it's own or $80 with other stuff and I used a voucher that will guarantee the price otherwise I would have chanced it. Because I was going through a company I added stuff in because it's the first 1/2 kilo that is the most expensive. Since I was new I got another voucher to express post and for 10% off but have read lots of things saying that express post doesn't make much difference. The postage was $130USD after postage insurance (0.65%) and fuel surcharge ($12) minus discount ($12.39). I gave the go ahead to post on 26th Aug and it arrived at 8pm last night 29th Aug. Was sent via DHL and I was very impressed with the speed and tracking notifications. The bill I had to pay was a little under 3000pesos, the first bit just says impuestos - 2117(or close to that)pesos and then a 16% vat on that plus another fee that I can't quite remember. I have no idea why it was so much but once it was here I didn't want to return it (since it would have cost heaps and I wanted it). Still cheaper the buying one in Aus and the easiest way to get stuff. My mum has used comgateway for lots of stuff to oz and hasn't had a problem but like with every service there are complaints on the internet, I was surprised at how smooth it all went! |

RE: does amazon deliver to mexico?
Depending on model could you have done as well or better on MercadoLibre.com.mx?
Here is an example I have used ML for years [over 10] for many major purchases and many, many more minor ones and have had 99.5% success. |

Mercado Libre is owned by Ebay and I have had 100 percent success with it so far. I have purchased everything from our sandwich presses to a bead curtain with zero issues.

RE: does amazon deliver to mexico?
No, MercadoLibre is a completely separate financial entity, apart from eBay. There are a number of continuous problems with MercadoLibre that users (mainly sellers, but buyers too) frequently post to the net. One is that your account can be suspended arbitrarily, and for silly reasons that ML doesn't respond to very often. Another problem is that a seller is forced to provide access to MercadoPago to the buyer to pay for products, even though the buyer can receive the merchandise, and hold payment for a long time through MercadoPago, and even could say that they recieved the product, and not pay at all. That leaves sellers open to fraud.

MercadoLibre is a publicly held company, traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Its largest shareholder is eBay.
