Guanajuato Health Care
Guanajuato, Here We Come! Well, probably not for 1-2 years, but REALLY looking forward to moving to Guanajuato - we're pretty sure it's the place for us. (Though still open to hearing about other wonderful, not-too-large, mountain cities in the area.)
Hoping people in the "know" can point me in the right direction to figure out our health care options. We feel we will need some level of health insurance - at least for "catastrophic" issues that hopefully never become a reality. Though Jim, my husband, and I feel very fit and healthy, we do have some pre-existing conditions which seem to be an obstacle to getting insurance. I've heard that getting Mexican insurance once in the country will be our best option. I'm trying to learn about the public insurance and if it might be a viable option for us. Also, hoping there might be a private health care policy that will cover us. But getting some answers on insurance before we "take the plunge" will be important to us. I'd love hearing anyone's thoughts on health care in Guanajuato. If anyone can share any contacts with insurance agents - preferably English-speaking - that I can discuss this with, that would be invaluable. I'd welcome a private message, if that's what is recommended, if you have a particular person or business to suggest I contact. Any Guanajuato expats out there? If you're willing to share some of your experiences (in general), be open to occasional questions - that would mean a lot to me! Hoping to hear back from some of you!
Rosa

RE: Guanajuato Health Care
Seven Corners will insure people with pre-existing conditions, and when we originally insured with them, there wasn't a detailed checklist of pre-existing conditions on their application. However, Seven Corners will subsequently deny a claim, due to pre-existing conditions. This happened to us. Thankfully, the amount in dispute was just over the annual deductible and not worth litigation.

RE: Guanajuato Health Care
Hola, Rosa ... this is Rosa y Paco de Santa Rosa. I am not writing about health care, but about our home in Santa Rosa (in the mountains a ten-minute drive above Guanajuato if you are not familiar with it). We just listed it yesterday for sale. We have been here 11 years (part time), and have decided it is time to spend more time with grandkids, etc. in the States. There are other drivers as well ... Anyway, we know it will take time to sell our home and so your time frame was of interest. Perhaps you already have a home in guanajusto or you plan to rent. If you have any interest just let me know and we can provide pictures and information. The realtor should have it on their website within this week I believe. Anyway, good luck with your new adventure! It has been an amazing experience for us here ...
