the on-going FMM permit questions
FMM Tourist "visa" questions.
I will leave Mexico before my FMM permit expires and law says i have to turn in the card at the time i exit. The questions: at the same time the current card is canceled will i be permitted to get another FMM immediately? Is there a waiting period between FMM cancelation and issue of new permit? Thanks, Doyle |

RE: the on-going FMM permit questions
I have been using a tourist card for 14 years and most of the time(especially when building our house), we went back and forth maybe 3 times during the 180 days, never turning in anything, because there was still sufficient time left on the tourist card. They never check any visas until maybe the 35 km checkpoint, so there was never a problem. But, if you need a new tourist card, ask when you turn it in. If he will give one then, get it, if not, get it on your return, there will probably be a new person and they NEVER check anything. Don't worry.:D

RE: the on-going FMM permit questions
Amigo Doyle, forgive me for suggesting this, but it seems you keep asking this question hoping to get the answer that you want instead of "the answer".
You can Google "FMM must leave" and get to this site http://www.mymexicanlawyer.com, where you can scroll down to the heading Visitors and then read the first sentence. Another good source re the 2012 Immigration changes can be found on yucalandia.com here. On the practical side why waste however much time with immigration on exit [and getting a No] when it should take no longer then 5 minutes to get a new card on your return? You ask " Is there a waiting period between FMM cancelation and issue of new permit?" It seems only to be the time it takes to make it over the bridge and back. Bridge times here |
