RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
What are the odds a Google search for the words Dr. Daniel Garcia Nieto or his phone number would return no address, only this post to go left with Pipila to your back, go for so minutes (walking or driving?), turn right and another xx minutes (walking or driving).

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Then maybe that's good news? - Suppose the search result was more robust and throngs of penny pinching dental turismo extranjeros looking for great dental work would now be crowding his appointment book.

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
So I now get it. That's why the answers are so sparse here. I am also a member of On The Road In Mexico facebook group and you are right, Mexico is starting to fall by the wayside in the area of Gringo fear. Even their setting Jalisco on fire or the Funicular crashing down can't seem to stop the entourage of Gringonistas. The only way to stop them now is to hammer at the forums reinstating the fear that has kept them away thus far. When will it end? Was in 2013 that there were more Gringos going south than Mexicans going north? Thank goodness Guanajuato has the hills, well make that the belt-buckle-busting climbs into town for anything .... and thank goodness Americans hate exercise (well make that boot-camp style exercise climbing these damn hills LOL) and there are no car parks on the cajahones - so maybe we are all safe for a few more weeks. But keep an eye out, all over Mexico (as one who travels around it all year can clearly see) ... the Gringos are coming!!! Walmart, Costco, Subway, McDonalds and Starbucks paved the way. Tomorrow Mexico will be history (and they dare complain Texas looks like Mexico - what Mexico - that's just the parts oozing up there that Walmart squashed northward when it moved in ;-) ).
Otherwise, I made it to the clinic fine today. A full 45 minutes wandering Embarradores left me finding not a single empty taxi in all that time. Luckily I headed back downtown and flagged one in time. I dialed the number and passed the phone to the driver, else I am glad I didn't try the bus and walking as a backup. Not so close to the Pipila as would be assumed. Follow the road on toward the Mega, at the very apex and as the road crests, the highest point of the road, at that point (the Policia Headquarters sign) head down to the ultra steep road to where it forks at the white house. On the left is the doctor's office on top of the hill. Still it's too late to hide the info as suggested. The good doctor was available to do an evaluation but the crown I need will have to wait for his three week queue for major dental work. So be forewarned, the word is already out. He did give me a temporary and on my next return I will be able to schedule more work and completion. What a professional and what a fast worker. Still I was in the chair for an hour and a half. But my tooth is feeling better already. Thanks for the pointers. |

RE: Recommendations for a dentist?
Dr. Daniel Garcia Nieto is wonderful. My wife early today had a tooth emergency, big pain, and this kind man worked her into his already busy Monday. Gentle, enough English so she was at ease and understood fully what was the problem and his solution. She walked in near tears, left smiling. Cannot recommend him too strongly.
