Hospital de Lentes

I have often noticed the sign "Hospital de Lentes" on Callej?n de Ca?itos (this is the callej?n that runs up from the Jardin Reforma beside the UG Architecture School), and today I had the occasion to use their services.

While I was visiting in the US last summer, I accidentally sat on my eyeglasses, breaking one temple from the solder that held it to the frame. Of course, I was told there that the break couldn't be repaired and I'd have to get new frames. Right. So, I did what any sane resident of Guanajuato would do: I brought the broken frame/temple back here to be repaired.

Luis Gerardo Rivera told me to come back in an hour, which I did, and the glasses were repaired and ready. The repair required a tiny spot of solder and cost 90 pesos. The glasses fit better than ever, too. His card says he also repairs jewelry. He's at the window of his establishment from 11 to 8, but closes for comida between 2 or 3 and 6.
