Thank you for running an OPEN GTO forum
Thank you Bill for making this site an OPEN FORUM - honestly an OPEN FORUM. I so appreciate having a place where I am not made to feel like my comments, questions, opinions, and joys of living in GTO often hit the wastebasket instead of the intended GTO readers. I hope you, Bill, hear from others stating the same appreciation for your hard work and dedication to no censorship on this site.
For the record, this morning's public display of my name and a written reprimand (on the other GTO message board) was inappropriate. The GTOconnect monitor has had my public email university address since May 2008. She also has the email addresses of two other members of my family where a private inquiry could have been sent. She has told me that "google" won't allow an .edu ending for email. Google's gmail runs my university (.edu) email! My questions via my husband's email (since I have never been approved to post on gtoconnect using my own email) were dumped this week. I was found guilty and put on public display because someone with the same first name (different last name) tried to write to her list. She sent me the "rogue" address - obviously, it is not even my name! Therefore, if you have the same name as another person who might visit GTO, be warned to be very careful because you too might face public humiliation instead of a private inquiry. Maybe you don't mind, but I sure did. Furthermore, that public embarrassment makes it clear to me that GTOconnect is NOT an open forum. Just in case you missed what I am talking about; at least now you know I was not "misbehaving in her class." "Message to Jacqueline MacKenzie" "Hello Jacquie, Could you please write me privately with an email address you intend to use for the group? There is a problem with your account at gtoconnect..." " |

RE: Thank you for running an OPEN GTO forum
Jzm and NanN- THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND COMMENTS gtolist is now in its 28th month and is more than I ever expected it to be - it has come alive and is truly a community resource. Its membership, now approaching 600, is testament to the Forum's open philosophy.
For our newer members who may not have been here 2 ? years ago here are links to some of the founding posts/questions to the founder that may be of interest and help explain why gtolist.com came into being and exists today. http://www.gtolist.com/forum/mybb1/showt...ght=censor http://www.gtolist.com/forum/mybb1/showt...hp?tid=293 |

RE: Thank you for running an OPEN GTO forum
Having left a couple of boards in Mexico due to prejudicial editing by the administrator this board is truly a refreshing change.

RE: Thank you for running an OPEN GTO forum
I have only been a member for a couple of months but it has already proven to be a great resource and I expect will be even more so when my wife and I relocate next year.
Looking forward to visiting for a couple of weeks this Fall. Keep up the great work. |
