Free Washing Machine -needs a rebuild
We just bought a new washer and can give away the old one [Hotpoint/Mabe "2 cycle large capacity" it says 10kg?] - it runs marginally - has trouble spinning so it needs to be "encouraged" a bit.
Originally my service guy said "replace it" so we did - then he called back informing me that there was a parts sale going on and that it could make economic sense to rebuild it [and get upto another 10 years use]. His estimate for repair and parts through 29 Feb was 2000 pesos - and 2800 thereafter. I imagine if anyone is interestd they could have him buy the parts now and hold off on the labor. For an assesment of the machine one could call Luis at Technomax 732-2641 Spanish only [ I'm pretty sure that is his name, his father, who runs the place, is Geraldo and knows the machine too]. Also he says once rebuilt machine would be worth 3500 I could possibly deliver to an easily accessible curb before March 6. If intrerested please e-mail or PM |

RE: Free Washing Machine -needs a rebuild
Great that your older washer found a home. I wish I'd known about it a lot sooner than just recently. All it probably needed was a new belt, or maybe just tighten the adjustment to cause the belt to spin the cylinder correctly, and not slip. A very cheap "fix". Except for very old "EASY" double cylinder washing machines/spin dryers, virtually all centrifugal spinners are actuated by a belt connected to a motor some distance away. Oh well.
