Out of the punch bowl walks (feel free to add one)
Walk name: Mega/ La Comer grocery shop walk

I have described this to several who first balked and then said after thinking about it, that it's a cool idea. Often I walk to Mega / La Comer to do my grocery shopping and then take a taxi back with my payload. It's a nice getaway or alternative to get you out of the city proper for an excursion, something you don't normally see by conventional methods of transportation. And how strange to meet someone who complains about the walks and climbs to engage in such an activity :-).

Now of course you could take a bus and enjoy another ride through the tunnels and the bus is probably cheaper than the funicular ride, and of course you can walk up those stairs (but not me LOL) to reach dear Pipila without dropping a penny, so keep that in mind if you are really into exercise. To get there, simply get to the Pipila, hook a left (assuming you were facing it) and continue for a short walk around the panoramica until you see the small road that goes up past the red buildings that passes in front of the Logani dental clinic. Continue on for your only short climb of the trip until you top the hill and from there it's downhill all the say to the Pozuelos.

If you enjoyed your trip then next time you see me, buy me a beer. I prefer Negao Modelo or even better, a Shiner Bock from HEB/Leon :-) Cheers!

I made you a route in case my narrative is unclear (as has been harshly and unfairly pointed out in the past) ....

We'll walk to La Comer from Embajadoras via the tunnel and either cab or bus back. Not bad unless the tunnel gets backed up with traffic. Nice and cool in summer months.

Walk name: La Presa de la Olla

This very interesting part of Guanajuato is very often missed by visitors and residents alike. It is a rather stiff walk up to the top for newcomers and physically challenged, or people like me who are just plain lazy. One solution of course it to take the bus up and walk down if you tire easily. That way anything missed on the way up is seen on the way down. The buses are normally windshield-ed "La Presa". There are some informal and formal restaurants along the route and taco stands at the top that are also worth a stop. At the top, tour the area, have a lunch or picnic, rent a paddle boat and even if you took the bus up, enjoy the walk down back into the city center.

Be sure to visit this area when the dam is opened while the area is filled with vendors and celebrations on what is called either the Fiesta de San Juan or Fiesta de la Apertura de La Presa da la Olla. Note that online accounts of the yearly celebration's scheduled dates vary from June 15th to the first Monday in July with side notes that the festival can be changed due to the amount of rains received. So check with the local news sources to get the exact date each year for the various portions of the festival.

Suggested route, depending of course on origin: https://goo.gl/maps/m841XAXrPYG2
