Sad news
To Our Guanajuato Community ?
We are so very sorry to let you know that Bob Hawkins, the ?mayor of Mexiamora,? passed away Tuesday night in a Birmingham, Alabama hospital. Bob and Connie had unexpectedly gone to the United States early last week because of Bob?s rapidly declining health. While we knew his condition was grave, his death came far faster than anyone expected. Bob and Connie touched more lives than can be counted ? greeting visitors and new residents, telling people where everything could be found, serving as goodwill ambassadors by connecting with hundreds of their Mexican neighbors, and overall being solid good folk you could rely on. We will miss having them as part of our community. Connie will be back at some point to pack up and get ready to move to the states so we will be able to give her a more thoughtful send-off. If anyone wants to honor Bob?s memory, you can send a memorial to the American Cancer Society (Robert Lee Hawkins).
