Mexico imposes restrictions on DEA activity

I have always questioned why the US, whose consumption of illegal substances is monumental, doesn’t do more to find a solution to why its citizens feel the need to self medicate. I’m guessing if you found a fix in the social structure / culture that drove its citizens to seek substances, you probably wouldn’t have a need for a “ war on drugs” , there is a reason Americans are big drug users, why not address that elephant in the room?
