A few months ago you may remember that we wrote about a beautiful ginger and white kitten that had insinuated itself into our lives. Cass didn?t take no for an answer, certainly not from our 2 existing cats, and just helped himself to their food and our lives.
Cat number 1 was very unimpressed, cat number 2 less so, but ultimately we decided he needed a family to call his own, not one where the two laps were already taken. We put him up on the List, promising to neuter him. The next day we followed through, taking him to a vet close to home, one we had never used before. Bad choice, and one we will always feel terrible about making. A trusting, perfect kitten came back to us crippled, a careless injection severing a nerve to his lower right back leg. We had witnessed the injection, shuddering in disbelief at the roughness with which it was given. We waited hoping that it was a horrible temporary thing, but no, the butcher had permanently disabled him. (Why did we ever assume that all vets would professional and careful?) Cass is now about 12 months old, still a beautiful, affectionate young man, but with a limp, who deserves a good home and a good life. He has a purring mechanism that can be heard several rooms away he is so keen to bond! So, one house-trained, neutered happy little man who would live well inside or out, with the proviso that he can?t be in a place where wild dogs can get to him, as his escape is simply not fast enough. Most things however, including climbing a caracol, he does with ease such are his adaptive powers. Photos attached. Please tell others if you know of someone looking for a cheeky devotee. (Private message me here for more details, or the name of the vet to avoid if you are interested, or call David on mobile 473 108 3347.) |
