Shipping Parcels to GTO from US

I have a large envelope or small box, depending on how I pack it & what I include, to mail to GTO from US. The rates coming up online on common carriers is coming up around $60-$80. I'd appreciate any advice anyone can share on carriers to help reduce this cost, & safety of delivery in GTO. Has anyone had any customs complications on such shipments? At GTO, is residence delivery a major issue & best to schedule a pickup?

I forgot to add, The USPS service is much less costly, but I have no idea whether the delivery service in GTO is reliable. Any advice is appreciated.

If you have an Estafeta office in your US area, they tend to be cheaper than other commercial carriers. There is also a Facebook community Mexico Mule that promotes fellow travelers to and from Mexico to transport legal and reasonably sized items to and from. Payment for such services can be covering baggage cost, buying the carrier a drink or dinner or it’s gratis. Trick is the timing and getting the goods in the hands of potential travelers.
