Does anyone know how the water was lifted to the aqueduct at Noria Alta? Was there a water wheel outside of the round structure, or was there some kind of mechanism inside the structure?

"Noria" means "water wheel," so presumably one was involved.

This photo is of a different noria than Noria Alta. I don't see a water wheel in this photo or in the second photo which shows Noria Alta, Guanajuato. I can't help but think that there's some other kind of water lift mechanism.
