how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
I used to have an account with ustvnow.com to watch the 3 main US channels but they cut off my access last year. I went back today and they still have, supposedly, a free account. I tried to sign in with the old password then tried to sign up with a different password. No way. But even when I could access it in the past, if there was something popular like a football game they didn't have enuf bandwidth, however if you agreed to pay for a monthly pkg they could find the bandwidth. So that's not an option.
Do any of you know how to watch on line? I have searched but without success. C-span seems to have 'clips' available after the debates but only 4 minutes. Thanks in advance for any help. |

A similar service is ustvgo.com or ustv247.com
Both offer ABC for free but have similar bandwidth issues during high demand periods. |

RE: how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
If you want a marginally more dependable service than these websites which are "iffy" at best then you can join a "pay-for IP-TV service" which usually runs in the neighborhood of around $20 a month and amounts to some server farm that has popped-up somewhere which is streaming satellite signals and will last as long as they are capable, and that generally means they will be around until the US owners of the service find a way to block some aspect of them such as jimmying up their domain name pointers (DNS entry) or having influence over some portion of the hosting or network facilities and shutting those down. There's a guy in San Miguel who is a re-seller of one of these services and he has a value-ad of helping you set it up on your local TV if you are not a techie and this might be good for someone if they wish to take on the risk and don't mind the constant exposure that these can disappear like the old USATV did, which is good incentive to always pay by the month rather than a longer term.
The other option is to go legit and stream via a Roku or Fire Stick to US facilities and add an additional router to your setup which has been configured to a paid VPN service, which is what I use, paying the regular US subscription fees of Roku plus a monthly subscription fee to the VPN company. An advantage to this is not worrying about the up and down and disappearance of these IP-TV unauthorized services along with the additional benefit that signing into the VPN router will make any device perform as if you were in the US, which means everything remains in English on your web searches and you don't have to battle with searches and facilities if you are not 100% fluent in Spanish, or if you simply tend to anchor your online shopping activity to US goods and shipping to a US address for a future retrieval. Or if you have the budget for it, there's always the option of going both routes, setting up the "iffy" IP-TV on your stock supplied Mexico broadband router and adding an additional VPN router to supply your Roku, Netflix and PC/tablet/phone for "US facade" type activity. ***** After re-reading your post you said you did not want paid services so my suggestions are not viable. In general you can normally find a US TV stream and play the cat and mouse game of finding a new free resource and constantly moving to another one one goes down and then the next. (Just a different iteration of the old satellite card programming game.) I tired this once and all that happened is that I got a few services but with a laptop so bogged down with virus' from their shady Kodi extensions that I had to do a complete system restore to get it all off. Not worth it in my book because of the time and constant research jumping from "free" service to the next. Great if you don't have much to do and don't mind a system rebuild here and there, and a really fun hobby if you can stand the frustration. Best thing about being in Mexico though (at least for me) is learning that TV is something you don't really need. I just play with the tech part because it's a lifelong hobby and it provides service to family members and loved ones who remain hooked on it. |

RE: how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
I have the "pay-for IP-TV service" from the guy in SMA, and I'm happy with it.
Specifically, it was important to me to pull in the ACC Network. It was available on this service the same day that the ACC Network went live. Also, I was able to follow Bianca Andreescu's run through the US Open on the Canadian TSN 4 channel. And I finished watching the film "Kill Bill" last night. |

Roberb7,
Can you offer here, or by PM, the SMA contact for expanded TV service? Mil gracias. |

RE: how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
The previous Democratic "debates" this year were readily available without the need to use a VPN or ustvgo, etc. I have none of that stuff yet managed to watch some of them. If I recall correctly, they were available on C-SPAN, on the networks broadcasting them, and I think also on the New York Times' website. YMMV.

RE: how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
Maybe this will work. I used a VPN to change my location to Dallas, TX. Then I signed in to WFAA live streaming. So far, just fine. I don't really care to watch more of their weather report and discussion of Michigan. I'll check again tomorrow and then see what happens at the time of the debate. Thanks for all the info, guys.

RE: how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
Well I am pleased that you found it and hope you can find a Trump-beater as you do your research. (Such a nasty man!)
By the way, according to https://www.c-span.org/networks/ at the bottom of the page you will see: "You must log in with your television provider in order to view the C-SPAN Live Streams." A VPN is handy as you have stated. Using it here with the Roku 2 with an additional OpenWRT VPN enabled router. With all devices you can either connect into the supplied INF* wifi or the MyHouseVPN router wifi and have any US city IP address. Works well. **** Another hint for you since you do have VPN access is if you have relatives in the US who are satellite subscribers and they don't stream remotely when they travel, perhaps one of them would share one of their streaming service passwords, such as HBO GO, etc. |

RE: how to watch the Dem debate on ABC?
I've found what is supposed to be the debate link, here is WFAA live streaming.
https://www.wfaa.com/video/news/live_str...87-1661279 It seems to work both with and without the VPN but it's very jerky on my system. A funny thing is if you are on Mexico IP you get commercials in Spanish or if on a VPN with a Dallas IP, you get commercials in English LOL. |
