Good-quality baseball returns to GTO
A new league for the State of Guanajuato has been organized, and they started play on Sept. 7. The local team is Academias. There are teams in San Miguel de Allende, San Luis de la Paz, Silao, and two other towns.
What I have heard is, they have brought in some players from the Dominican Republic (baseball players are DR's biggest export), so the caliber of play is pretty good. They haven't published a schedule yet (I'll post it here when I see it), but Academias has a game vs. the Piratas de San Luis de la Paz at 4 PM on Thursday, Sept. 12, 4 PM, at Parque Aguilar y Maya (up the hill from Embajadores). |
