Holiday sale of nochebuenas (poinsettias) to benefit Amigos de los Animales de Gto

Amigos de los Animales is having a sale of beautiful nochebuenas (poinsettias) in colorful, foil-covered, 8-inch-pots for the holiday season. The cost is 80 pesos per plant. We are taking prepaid orders for these plants now, and they will be available for pick-up on December 1 at Lalo Rodriguez?s office (the University?s CIEE office, No. 9 Sopena, close to the restaurant Capellina) and at Martha and Don Roberts? Lady Z Jewelry Store in San Javier Plaza. We will also be delivering the plants during December 1 through 8 for those unable to go to the pick-up sites.

Proceeds from the sale will help finance our sterilization and education programs. Over the past nine years we have sterilized more than 5000 dogs and cats and reached tens of thousands of Guanajuatenses through our public education program. Local veterinarians participate in the sterilization program, offering their clinic services at reduced rates and volunteering for our spay/neuter campaigns; but we subsidize the clinic services for pet owners with limited resources, and medical equipment and supplies are expensive. The public education program includes large ads on city buses?you may have seen some of them?that cost 1000 pesos per month.
