Book Recommendation: Why We Left - An Anthology of Women Expats
I know many on this forum are considering a move to Guanajuato so I want to recommend an enjoyable read that I recently found. Why We Left: An Anthology of American Women Expats compiled and edited by Janet Blaser provides some interesting and heartfelt insights about moving to Mexico. Here's the blurb from Amazon where it is available in the kindle version ( I'm not sure if there is a hard copy version available).
Millions of Americans dream about living in Mexico - and millions more do! From Oaxaca to Baja, Guanajuato to Puerto Vallarta, Lake Chapala to the Yucatan, more than two dozen women from all over Mexico share their stories in this new book. “Why We Left: An Anthology of American Women Expats” is a fun, inspiring and humorous read you'll enjoy from cover to cover, full of useful and encouraging words of wisdom from 27 women who made the move and couldn’t be happier. In inspiring words straight from the heart, the contributors share their plans and preparations, hardships and challenges, joys and satisfactions as their new lives in Mexico unfold. |

RE: Book Recommendation: Why We Left - An Anthology of Women Expats
I'd be interested in learning if that is from the person a few years back posting on the On The Road in Mexico group offering any women who wanted to write a short story to submit it and the "chosen ones" who were "good enough to qualify" would be published. What they would receive in return would be "to be published" and "one free copy" .... that's all (while the publisher kept all the profits and the authors got nothing).
Not saying it is the same outfit but I'd sure be curious if that was the same bamboozle. If so, it would be a real shame for the efforts these women invested to get no pay in return for their creative work. If anyone knows one of these authors, please satisfy my curiosity. |
