Don't Drink the Water

I know I am not supposed to drink the tap water here. What do you think about drinking it if it is boiled hard for a few minutes?

Boiling water makes it safe to drink in the event of some type of biological contamination. You can kill off bacteria and other organisms in a batch of water simply by bringing it a boil. Other types of pollutants, such as lead, are not so easily filtered out, however. Because of our altitude you must boil it for at least 3 minutes.

The water her in Guanajauto has a LOT of minerals in it! I wish that I could send a photo of a pot after boiling water in only one time! You can raise dust by rubbing the interior of the pan. You can do it yourself, get a pot with a dark interior, fill with water and boil it all away, be amazed with the amount of minerals left behind.

I imagine that the pipe water water is biologically safe to drink after a couple minutes boiling, all the critters would be dead. But that won't help with minerals and metals. Have you tasted the water? Would not win awards.
