LOOKING FOR CHARMING HOTEL NEAR CITY CENTER
Coming down in January for five days to look at apartments for a 6-month stay. Want a hotel near the city center, not any big chain. Any recommendations? I can read Trip Advisor and Expedia, but like anything else, the review is a function of the mood and temperament of the reviewer. People will always gripe no matter where they stay, so I take these reviews with a grain of salt. Looking for a resident of GTO to offer their opinion of a hotel, its location, its ambience, and its local reputation.
Thank you in advance. |

RE: LOOKING FOR CHARMING HOTEL NEAR CITY CENTER
Personally stayed at Posada Santa Fe in the Jardin a few years back.it was pleasant, old building, pleasant staff. Room was small, but in the 1860s the average room wasn't big. Alonzo 10 and 1850 are all supposed to be nice.

Thanks, googled that one, looks awesome. I'll check out more on Trip Advisor later, see if any of the non-cliche reviews catch my attention.

RE: LOOKING FOR CHARMING HOTEL NEAR CITY CENTER
I would say most people living here have only walked by the hotels in the area and the Trip Advisor people might actually have at least stayed in them more recently than we have. Also "quaint" is a wide open word for interpretation. I look at quaint as no bed bugs, no cucarachas coming up the shower drain, clean toilet and rock bottom price. I think I am odd for a Gringo in that respect. Also no offense, most people here are as kooky as I am, just in a different way, so proceed with caution LOL.

I stayed at Hotel de Color, which is really an Airbnb house with 3-4 rooms I think. I absolutely loved it. Only a block from Teatro Juarez, squeaky clean and incredible breakfast prepared every day by wonderful staff. Rooftop terrace with fab view.

RE: LOOKING FOR CHARMING HOTEL NEAR CITY CENTER
There are many nice hotels or air bnb's close to the centro. It really depends on what is your price range. That would help to narrow it down.
