Driving to San Miguel from Laredo, TX

We are driving from Phoenix to SMA with our two dogs, crossing at Laredo, TX. Any tips/info (how much will the tolls be, etc) for this trip would be appreciated. We cross the border early morning on 6/30 and plan to spend the night in Matehuala. Are also interested in "buddying up" if anyone else plans to be on this drive at the same time. Mexico, here we come!
