Bravos de León baseball

Professional baseball returned to the State of Guanajuato, after a 25-year absence, on March 31. The Bravos de León compete in the AAA-level Mexican League. They will be playing their home games at Estadio Domingo Santana, which is off Blvd. Juan Alonso de Torres, north of the city centre; it's the boulevard that you would normally take if you were going to Plaza Mayor.

Their roster includes:

• Alfredo Marte (Dominican Republic), who played part of three seasons in MLB
  
• Donald Lutz (born in Watertown, NY, but spent his youth in Germany) who had a short MLB career, played for the German national team
  
• Brandon Macias (Flagstaff, AZ, played college ball at Kansas) is second to Marte in hitting, played in the Brewers organization for seven years
  
• Mitch Lively (Susanville, CA, played football and baseball for Sacramento State) leads the team in wins and strikeouts
  
• Walter Silva (Mexico) had a brief MLB career, leads the team in ERA.
