Dogs on a Plane!
We're taking our little rescued street dog back to Colorado with us the end of March. We're planning on putting him in a small collapsible pet carrier and sticking him on the floor in the cabin under the seat in front of us. Our question is, do we need to notify American Airlines that we're bringing a dog with us before our departure date or can we just show up with him when we check-in?

RE: Dogs on a Plane!
AA's pet policy is here

You need to advise American in advance to see if the type of aircraft your flying permits pets at all [from BJX-DFW they fly an A319] and further there are limits to the number of cabin pets per plane.

The worst thing to do is to just show up with the pet and hope they will board it.
