Here, Kitty, Kitty!

I have never liked cats! And I had no problem ignoring a young cat at my door, meowing and trying to get in the house, until one day when I came home and she was nursing three babies on my doorstep! Now what do I do? I have seven kids, so she and I immediately bonded.
I've been feeding them for about 10 days now, wondering what do I do with kitties and a mom that I can't keep? Every meal, the mom takes a few bites, comes over and thanks me (I kid you not!) and goes back to eating. She's really very sweet and I think she's quite young herself.
I found out last night that I have to make an unexpected 2-week trip to NH and now I have no one to take care of the kitties. Anyone out there want to take over? I'm leaving on Thursday. I have one kitten placed with a home but I don't know how/when to separate him/her from the mother.
I know there are cat lovers out there - H E L P!! What should I do? :huh: Thanks so much.:heart: Terri
