Arrived - Finally
Well slightly behing schedule, my wife and daughter and I have arrived here from Oregon. I have learned many things about moving here, and I am still wondering about a few things aong the way. For example, at the border crossing, one family next to us with a trailer of person items was told to return their belongings to the US. We were allowed to enter with similar items and quantity. While I was getting papers for my vehicle and trailer, I was told that since there was no license plate on the trailer (it's too small to register in OR) they I would not be given permission to bring it into the country...When I returned to the Officers checking/searching the car and trailer, I asked them what do do, I recieved a cheerful reply that its no problem and they waved us through. A day later, One question from a REAL State Police Officer was the last we heard about our little unlicensed trailer.

We did encounter a road block / check point in Durango that was by the Fake Police. My wife being a GTO Native, and sometimes much braver than her size backs up, refused to play their game and after frustrating two of the "Officers" she was allowed to pass without inspection, fees or thefts.

Anyway we are here, to anyone needing information about moving here, I will help in any way possible. RollyBrook.com is/was a good source but he is no longer available.

To everyone else, I look forward to meeting you at the Sunday brunches after I get settled, and I am always looking for some one to have a beer with and "practice my English with" since I barely speak Spanish.

Thanks for the info I got from the forum, and I am looking forward to meeting you
Mike

RE: Arrived - Finally
Congratulations!
I am a bit envious as my age & other considerations make my living in Guanajuato impractical so must be satisfied with a couple of months each year.
Enjoy!

Welcome. It is a wonderful place to live.
On the border incident, it brings to mind a common saying: the only consistency found in Mexico, is its inconsistency.
Hope to share a cold one with you at some point.
