Morelia Casita for Rent
Would you like to get out of Dodge during the Bicentennial activities? Or come to Morelia during the most perfect season of the year?
I have a casita for rent. The 2-story casita has a living room, kitchen, bath, fireplace, and a spacious bedroom with one double bed and one individual bed. Wi-Fi and twice-weekly maid service are included. Off-street, secure parking is available as are ample gardens. The rate for two people is $275 USD per week; for one person, the rate is $250 USD per week. The casita is located in Santa Maria de Guido, a tenencia (suburb) of Morelia which predates Morelia and is situated on the southern ridge above the city. During the 19th C., the wealthy of Morelia had summer and weekend homes in Santa Maria; during the Cristero Rebellion, a lot of convents moved up here; after World War II, it became popular among artists, nearly all of whom have now died off. Now it's one of the ten most desirable neighborhoods, where politicians and bureaucrats live alongside poorer folk in a mixed neighborhood. It is accessible to the Centro Historico by combi (collectivo), bus and taxi. A taxi will cost about $2.50 USD. We are two blocks from the plaza, grocery stores, cafes and taquerias are nearby, and there is a tianguis three times a week. Write me off-list at jjrose@jjrose.com. Or go to http://www.vacationrealty.com/3554 for more details. ![]() |

RE: Morelia Casita for Rent
I think that your price is usurious. In NYC, one of the most expensive places in the world, you can rent a place with similar description to yours (according to Google search) for under SU$2000.

RE: Morelia Casita for Rent
Earth to Kay/Earth to Kay.......................... uggh I charge more than that (>$275/wk) in two of my GTO vacation apartments and they are among not only the lowest cost but best value and best located vacation rentals in GTO.
I haven't stayed in Jennifer's vacation rental but have stayed elsewhere in Santa Maria and its a great area. Its not central but as she mentions el Centro Historico is easily accessible. And besides for dinner you have to go to Hotel Villa Montana which would be a 5-10 minute walk for the wonderful food and the best view in Morelia (be there 15 minutes before sunset and sit outside facing the cathedral) - and once having done that and if the length of your stay permits several of Morelia's other better restaurants are near by - you may never need to go to el Centro other than to visit one of my other favorites, Fonda de las Mercedes In 1997 I rode my mountain bike to Morelia from GTO - actually didn't get a good vibe so after having a beer on the plaza I rode back [didn't even spend the night - I made it back as far as Morleon] - I guess I was tired from the ride as now Morelia is, along with Quer?taro, one of my favorite places in Mexico |
