RE: gym?
...I learned just today that there is also a pool, open to the general public, at the Preparatoria.

I'd double check this - I'm a swimmer and in 20 years here I don't know of anyone non-university affiliated that has been able to use that pool. I may be wrong.

No direct knowledge as to facilities and equipment, but a new mulit-story fitness/wellness center has opened on Paseo de La Presa, up next to the lake. Quite active, especially so weekends.

RE: gym?
VIPS has shut down or moved that would be a nice place to have a quality Gym anyone looking for a business venture? Could probably have a nice juice bar and healthy snacks. the fan on top of the building has gone quiet which is nice but also a little weird because now everything else seems louder

RE: gym?
I found out a bit more about the Preparatoria pool. It's open 7 AM-8 PM. You have to buy a six-month pass to use it, which costs around 1,500 pesos.

Thanks roberb7 for info on prepartoria pool. Could you give me a little more information, like the address or full name. I can't find anything about it when I google.

Ah, the actual name of the place is Escuela Nivel Medio Superior Guanajuato, but the camionetas that go there just say "Prepa". It's at the intersection of Alameda and Panoramica, east of the centre of town.
There's a Wikipedia page in Spanish here: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escuela_de...Guanajuato
and it says there that the school has an "alberca".

RE: gym?
I´m interested in the pool also, but don´t know where things are well enough to know where "Prepa" is. Having said that, I spent two months going to the pool on the road to Valenciana and it is an awesome facility. The pool is huge and there are both diving platforms and boards. I believe it is an Olympic training facility. I bought a punchcard and took the bus from the intersection in front of Alhondiga. Easy ride (unless you go when the students are coming to or going home from school) for 5 pesos. If you come or go when schoolkids are riding, sometimes the buses are so full on the way back down they won´t even stop. Cabs can be hard to catch going back also, but I´m never in a hurry and don´t mind hanging out watching the world go by while I wait.

I have also been to pilates and yoga classes at Casa Cuatro as well as yoga at Kurma. Kurma is pretty grueling, but I thoroughly enjoyed the classes. Casa Cuatro yoga was a bit more tame, although the pilates classes are a great workout also.

If anyone can give me a little more detail about the pool, please feel free to reply or PM me.

Saludos
Deb Lander

RE: gym?
The gym by Presa de la Olla is called In&Out and they are on facebook. They have many spin classes and quite a few machines. We did join the gym since it was close to our apartment and the staff is friendly. We bought a ten pass since we were only here for a short time, but they have other options depending upon how long you want to join..

Go over and check them out.
