does anyone know of a dressmaker who can do uncomplicated alterations?

Yes, I know of someone who does inexpensive alterations in the MERCADO HIDALGO. Enter in any door, and go to the eastern part of the ground floor, two aisles more or less south of the centaral main aisle, and look in that part of the store (South East corner more or less). A lady with a pedal operated old Singer machine charges 25 pesos to alter a blouse, and 35 pesos to alter pants/trousers, and other things depending on size. ( I think I remembered that correctly) A family of three ladies operate there little place in the Mercado, and are really sweet.

They are the most economical I know of in GTO.

Another one is in Puertacita (alongside Embajadoras Park where the buses stop) next to the shoe repair place. Also reasonable. I've had good luck with her.
