Take them to the Plaza of the Frogs past Cantador Park between 10am-6pm. From there, they will be taken (probably to Irapuato) to a disposal place where they will not contaminate the earth. A UG project.

Any weekday you can drop off used batteries, lithium or alkaline, at the Presidencia Municipal, Plaza de la Paz, to the left after entering. From there they do go to a facility in Irapuato.

Better yet, just give the used stuff to the guys that sell used stuff on the street. MEXICANS love to buy used stuff cheap. A better way to recycle. Around the Alhondiga, close to the escuela de los niños secundaria are some guys on both sides of the street who sell used stuff. The old guy does NOT need the stuff, as he charges exhorbitant prices for junk.
