RE: Cushion foam?
Best place I have found with many types/thicknesses/densities is in Leon.
I think it is is called Tapiceria Carmona on Bulevar Mariano Escobedo on the enge of the Centro . From GTO head to Leon/Costco on Lopez Mateos. Take an angled Left at the Fiesta Inn just after the Cento Max/Costco. Go several km - over the Malecon and then past all the streets named after composers and into a grittier area at the edge of the Centro. As the road becomes an overpass ramp keep right and head underneath where there will be a U-turn. Head back a block or two on Escobedo and the shop will be on your right. 3-4 parking spaces in the store or park on side street [ Justo Sierra]. Nice upholstery fabric in the shop as well as foam. If it is not Tapiceria Carmona it is mas o menos in the same location. ![]() |

RE: Cushion foam?
The last time I was in Wal-Mart (about 8 weeks ago) in Le?n I saw some imitation Tempur-Pedic mattresses for sale. This kind of material, while more expensive, is far superior to the cheap foam sold in fabric stores here. When we did our Menaje de Casa 7 years ago, we bought a used king Tempur-Pedic mattress on eBay, brought that down with our load, and cut it up into pieces that got made into sofa cushions.
I also noticed some new home furnishing chains in Le?n that appear to be similar to Bed, Bath, & Beyond in the U.S. They probably have the imitation stuff as well. |
