BJX Airport improvements?

I was supposed to fly Albany-Washington-Mexico-then bus to GTO yesterday but United was having a bad day system-wide. I ended up in Houston at midnight with a continuing flight this morning to BJX. The Arrivals area seems to have changed once again and looks very modern and pretty nice. There is even a sniffer pastor alem?n checking odors on the baggage [and threatening another passenger's poodle].

Outside the exit door were very blatant taxi hawkers with prices posted to Leon/SMA and Irapuato which seemed less than the taxi mafia inside.

As we were paying our parking fee we were approached by a man saying he was buying a ticket to Houston to visit family but it was now $15 more than he had. Could we help? It was a scam I'm sure but I gave him my spare US change [which would be worthless here] and he took off. On reaching the car we were again approached. This time by a teenager. I had had enough by then and buzzed him off so he walked away to be joined by another hoodied chum.

Has anyone else experienced this? Makes a bad 1st impression for new arrivals to GTO

Hi all,

I had the same experience at BJX two weeks ago. I felt attacked by the Taxi drivers. I went back and reported the situation to the Manager?s office, who responded that they are trying to block these people from operating like that. Yeah! Right! I hope they are honestly, making an attempt. I wonder why they were allowed to be there in the first place??

Bill My one & only experience there was when I picked up Linda with the driver you had arranged. I was somewhat impressed with the facility & had no beggars approach.
